Food Access Fund
Background: One of our farm's goals is to make good food accessible to all. "Good food" to us is food that is fresh, local, nourishing, and delicious. It also means that the food was raised with care and love, using methods that are ethical and sustainable. This is what we strive to produce here, and our store also sells good food produced by other local farms. Of course, in order for farms producing good food to be viable, their products must cost significantly more than the industrially-produced counterparts. We are painfully aware that this means that many people who value good food simply cannot afford it. We set up this Food Access Fund to make a small step toward addressing this problem.
How it works: The system is very straightforward: donors contribute funds which allow us to give a discount of 50% to farm store customers when they pay with SNAP. (SNAP stands for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. Formerly referred to as "food stamps", this is the USDA program that gives grocery money to low income individuals and families.)
Info for donors: If you believe in sustainable agriculture, the transformative power of eating whole foods, a thriving regional food system, and equal access to good food, please consider donating to our Food Access Fund. Your donation will help support our farm AND low income community members. We commit to full transparency regarding where your donation dollars go. When you make a donation, 5% goes to our fiscal sponsor, Good Work Institute, a local organization that manages the fund for us. Because we are working with a fiscal sponsor for this program, your donation can be tax-deductible. 95% of your donation goes directly toward supplementing farm store purchases made with SNAP. The farm takes zero dollars of donations for the administrative costs of this program. The farm benefits indirectly from your donation by having access to a wider range of customers.

Info for SNAP customers: If you are a SNAP recipient and can benefit from the 50% farm store discount offered by this fund, simply schedule a checkout appointment for the farm store. When you arrive, you will shop the same way as everyone else (see our Farm Store page for more details), and one of the farmers will meet you there to complete the SNAP transaction. When funds are available, the 50% discount will automatically be applied to your purchase. (Our scheduling page will always be updated to let you know whether or not funds are available.)
